Britney doesn’t write her songs?
Britney Spears was sued June 7 in federal court by two Philadelphia songwriters who claim she swiped one of their songs for her multiplatinum album “Oops! … I Did It Again.”
Michael Cottrill and Lawrence Wnukowski filed a lawsuit against the singer, Zomba Recording Corp., Jive Records, Wright Entertainment Group and BMG Music Publishing claiming they sent their song “What You See Is What You Get” to Spears’ reps in 1999, but it was rejected. However, their suit claims the 20-year-old pop singer later released two songs – “What U See (Is What U Get)” and “Can’t Make You Love Me” – that lifted substantial portions of their song.
Guns to hit road
The current incarnation of Guns N’ Roses is promising to finally tour the U.S. this fall, after completing a string of Asian and European summer shows. The band’s last European tour was scrapped after guitarist Buckethead became ill. Meanwhile, next year will mark the one-decade point since the group, which features Axl Rose as its only remaining original bandmember, last released an album. The near-mythical CD “Chinese Democracy,” which has been in the works for almost as long, still remains without a release date.
