Since moving to Iowa 31 years ago, we have known and admired Iowa Senator Johnie Hammond. With caring and passion, she has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of all Iowans. Karen Bolluyt has many of the fine qualities we revere in Hammond. Both share commitment to the same vital issues, both are interpersonally skilled, and both are motivated by altruism and compassion.

Karen Bolluyt has stellar leadership, teamwork and communication skills honed by 20 years of university work with diverse issues central to Iowa’s well-being. She served as a very effective president of ISU’s Professional and Scientific Council, where she was astute, persuasive, an excellent listener and assertive when appropriate. She has many years of experience working with state and federal officials and she clearly understands the issues.
