New Eminem record out sooner than expected

With bootlegs of Eminem’s new album already sold for as little as $5 on some avenue corners – as well as leaked for download on the equally vexing Internet – “The Eminem Show’s” release has been pushed up from June 4 to May 28.

“Due to rampant bootlegging and Internet piracy, Aftermath/Interscope, in conjunction with Goliath Management and Eminem, have decided to move the release of The Eminem Show up one week,” the concerned parties announced in a statement. “The first 2 million copies that will be sold in stores will feature a DVD of exclusive Eminem performance and interview footage.”

Early showing of new Scorsese flick a hit

Lucky audience members at the Cannes Film Festival got a sneek preview of sorts of the new Martin Scorsese movie, “Gangs of New York.”

The sneak-peek reel from the reportedly troubled film drew rave reviews and a standing ovation from an audience that included Juliette Binoche, director David Cronenberg and Sharon Stone, as well as Gangs stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz.

In a packed press conference following the screening, Scorsese admitted to butting heads with Miramax honcho Harvey Weinstein over the movie’s running time. But he called the bickering amicable, especially given the “big film” they’re attempting to make – a period picture featuring street brawls, slums, blood oaths and revenge killings.
