ABC to feature commemorative Sept. 11 coverage
ABC has announced it will halt its regular programming for this coming Sept. 11 to remember the first anniversary of the terror attacks.
It will instead cover various commemorative ceremonies and feature special segments, breaking only for local news in the evening.
Special features will include a minute-by-minute reconstruction of the events that occurred during the attacks.
Also, Peter Jennings will host a discussion with children, just as he did last fall during the attacks.
“This is the major news event of our lives,” ABC News President David Westin told The Associated Press. “This is a real opportunity go to back and comprehensively and systematically put together the facts as we now know them, and put them into some perspective.”
NBC will air a prime-time special Sept. 10, and will also cover various commemorative programs Sept. 11.
CBS has not announced what it plans to do to remember the day.
