LETTER:Quirmbach best Senate candidate II
April 30, 2002
On June 4, I plan to vote for Herman Quirmbach for Iowa Senate District 23. I hope you will also. Here are a few reasons why I want Herman representing Ames in the Iowa Senate.
First and most importantly is his vast experience in working with others as a member of the Ames City Council. He has been on the city council since 1995, and as a council member, has represented his constituents very ably. He has always been very accessible to Ames voters.
I personally worked with Herman on the Hallett’s Quarry bipartisan effort to give Ames a secure water supply and outstanding natural and recreational area. He helped us with his leadership skills to run a successful campaign that led to the passage of the bond issue by 86 percent of Ames voters.
He is very involved in Human Service issues in Ames & Story County. He supports ACCESS, Habitat for Humanity, Youth & Shelter Services and Ames-Story Partnership for Affordable Housing Program to name a few.
Herman has been a high school and college teacher for over 20 years and is currently an associate professor of economics at Iowa State. Education at all levels from preschool to postgraduate work is a priority for Herman.
Herman has been very active in the Story County Democratic Party serving as a former central committee member and treasurer. I feel Herman is the best candidate to represent me in the Iowa Senate. I sincerely hope you feel the same.
