LETTER:Daily should cover more GSB issues

Judging by the article on the front page of Thursday’s Daily (“Formal dress resolution voted down”), it would seem that GSB only argued about what to wear, not the actual business of ISU student government. But this would be very much in error.

Last Wednesday, GSB did a lot: Provided funds for Orchesis I to go to the American College National Dance festival, funded the Trap and Skeet Team to represent Team USA at the World Collegiate Shoot in Prague, Czech Republic, re-authorized the BRAD 21 program to build awareness about binge drinking, partially funded a request for the United for Peace event from the Pakistani Student Association, and approved seating a number of different officers for GSB, including its advisors.

It’s unfortunate that none of these worthwhile activities were even mentioned in the article. No wonder people think all we argue about is whether or not to wear ties. Perhaps in the future, the Daily might cover more of GSB’s legislative activities other than Senator Albright’s maladroit bill and those like it. But this seems to be a remote possibility, unfortunately.
