Co-chairs work goes to making event a success

Running Greek Week is no easy task.

This year’s co-chairs, Ryan Kruger and Nichole Christensen, have been busy holding weekly meetings and keeping committees working hard.

Throughout the week, they will be responsible for making sure everything runs smoothly, as well as handling any unexpected problems that might arise.

Kruger and Christensen are very dedicated to the success of Greek Week, said Beth Brantley, Panhellenic adviser.

“This job is a huge undertaking and a big responsibility,” said Brantley, graduate student in journalism and mass communication.

“The co-chairs will be very vital in the success of Greek Week,” Brantley said. “I think both Ryan and Nichole are very capable of overseeing things.”

Kruger and Christensen said previous leadership helped them land their positions.

“I served on the general committee for Greek Week last year and applied to be co-chair for this year after that,” said Christensen, senior in biology.

Being a leader for the committees and greek community and keeping an open mind are important parts of being a co-chair, Christensen said.

“I think it’s important to lead by example,” she said.

Making connections she can utilize later is a benefit of being involved with the greek community, she said.

“I’ve received many opportunities by being involved with my sorority,” she said.

Kruger said he served on last year’s Greek Week central committee and has been involved with Veishea, the Student Alumni Leadership Council and Freshman Council.

Kruger said it takes a team effort to be successful.

“We have very compatible people working on Greek Week this year,” said Kruger, senior in agronomy.

“Nichole and I have a lot of confidence in the co-chairs for the various committees,” he said.

“We have great people working under us.”

Kruger said the greek community is looking forward to a week of friendship, community service and fun.

“Being part of the greek community allows for meeting new people through special events like Greek Week,” he said.
