Child care resource fair to be Thursday
April 17, 2002
A campus child care resource fair for ISU families will start at 6 p.m. Thursday at the child care center at the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Different offices and service providers will be present to highlight their services and answer questions.
Julia Hagen, ISU child care coordinator, said the fair is funded by the Campus Childcare Access Means Parents In School Grant Program. Iowa State received the grant in October and is managed through the ISU Office of Child Care Resources.
“With the grant, we are able to offer financial assistance to ISU Pell Grant eligible undergraduate student families to help them purchase quality campus child care services while they are obtaining their degree,” Hagen said.
Penny Rice, Women’s Center director, said the resource fair is an opportunity for ISU families to learn more about the services provided on campus.
“The offices and service providers present represent a caring, concerned and dedicated group that may have the `secrets’ to a parent’s dilemma,” she said.
“I often feel that parents don’t have the time or energy to make the walk across campus to find the answers . or don’t know where to begin. I really want parents to know that ISU cares about their needs and their children’s needs.”
Pizza and child care will be available at the fair Thursday.
