Visiting professor to speak about IT
A Georgia State University professor will deliver a lecture on “IT,” or information technology, Wednesday at 3 p.m. in 205 Carver Hall.
Detmar Straub Jr., distinguished professor of information systems at Georgia State University, will deliver “The Role of Culture and IT Policy in the Developing World: The Case of Egypt and Other Arab Cultures.”
The lecture is part of the university’s Miller Lecture Series, which is funded by the Miller Endowment Trust.

Speaker to discuss fair trade Thursday
As part of Fair Trade Week, a coordinator from human rights organization Global Exchange will speak about “The Coffee Crisis and Fair Trade.”
Melissa Schweisguth, fair trade coordinator at Global Exchange, will speak Thursday at 8 p.m. in the Oak Room of the Memorial Union.
Schweisguth controls the organization’s network of 130 local campaigns in support of fair trade coffee, as well as coordinating grassroots efforts for Folgers.

Lecture on Maya numbers Thursday
A professor from the University of Arizona will deliver a lecture about the Maya numbering system Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Oak Room of the Memorial Union.
William Yslas Velez, distinguished professor of mathematics from the University of Arizona, is governor-at-large for minority interests in the Board of Governors of the Mathematical Association of America.

Lunch for education seniors on Thursday
Seniors in the College of Education will be treated to a free lunch Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Lagomarcino Courtyard.
College lunches are coordinated by the Senior Class Council with funding from individual colleges.
