ACTORS to hold `Oliver’ auditions

ACTORS, Inc. will be conducting auditions for the musical “Oliver” on Sunday and Monday at the ACTORS Studio, located at 120 Abraham Dr. in west Ames.

There are cast roles available for 54 people, including 23 children.

Auditions for children ages 8 to 14 will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Children with last names beginning with A through J will audition from 5 – 6; last names K through P from 6 to 7; and last names beginning Q through Z from 7 to 8.

Auditions for people ages 15 and up will be at 7 p.m. Monday. There are parts available for eight main roles and 45 other roles. Anyone who plans to audition should come prepared to sing “America the Beautiful” in the key of C and should dress comfortably. Auditions may include improvisational exercise and script reading.

Callbacks will be Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tyrese hospitalized after bike crash

Actor/singer Tyrese is currently hospitalized for a back injury and various cuts and bruises after he crashed his motorcycle last week. He was reportedly off-roading with friends in the desert in southern California.

It is not known exactly how the crash occurred. Immediately after the accident, Tyrese was checked into a hospital and released, but continuing back pain led him to seek more medical attention Monday.

He is expected to remain in the Los Angeles hospital until at least this weekend.

Fox to cancel `Ally McBeal’

The Fox network has announced that it will cancel “Ally McBeal” due to low viewership.

The Emmy-nominated program has been on air for five seasons. The final episode will air May 20.

Ozzy offers reward for missing pooch

Rocker Ozzy Osbourne is offering a $500 reward for his lost dog, Pippi, who has disappeared from the Osbourne home.

An entire episode of MTV’s “The Osbournes” was dedicated to the Osbourne family’s growing menagerie of house pets.
