Tournaments ready for Veishea week
April 8, 2002
While Veishea committee members are making final preparations for the big week, tournaments co-chairs are putting the finishing touches on the plans for the event’s tournaments.
The tournaments remain traditional games, though they now include indoor soccer, wallyball and flag football as well. The events also include darts, billiards, canoe races and a slam-dunk contest.
The events will be held throughout Veishea week. Winners will walk away with T-shirts, medals or trophies.
“Students say there’s nothing to do during Veishea and it’s simply not so,” said Andrew Slotterback, Veishea tournaments co-chair. “The tournaments go on all week and most people like sports so it’s an easy way to get involved.”
Jaime Tierney, Veishea tournaments co-chair, is also looking forward to the tournaments this year and is expecting a good turnout.
“It’s such a fun way to get involved with Veishea,” Tierney said. “We offer such a wide variety of events so that everyone can participate.”
Registration for the tournaments ends Friday.
