LETTER:LGBTAA’s rude poster tactics

Aaron Murray

Lately, the Daily has been filled with letters about the LGBTAA’s posters being torn down and how these actions were hate crimes. Did any of you ever think that maybe people tore them down because they were rudely placed everywhere? I personally tore at least a dozen of them down because this dozen was on the same bulletin board and covered at least a dozen other posters. These boards are for everyone’s use, not just the LGBTAA’s.

Is it not rude to put your poster over someone else’s? Maybe they value their posters too. The Daily, of course, ignores this – you don’t see articles in the Daily titled “Hundreds of posters hidden by LGBTAA campaign,” or “LGBTAA successfully ruins hundreds of sublease attempts.”

What I find very ironic is that the posters had the word “respect” written on them, asking that we respect their right to kiss whomever they wish. Did they ever think that perhaps they were being disrespectful by covering other people’s stuff up? Maybe they should start by respecting the people around them and then they will earn the respect that they want so bad.
