Keith Twombley was named president of the Inter-Residence Hall Association Thursday.

Again.

Twombley, junior in computer science, was announced as next year’s IRHA president April 4. After David Boike, IRHA vice president and elections commissioner, determined the results of the election did not actually yield a majority vote, he announced there would be a second election.

The slate of Twombley and Jessica Raim, junior in materials engineering, were again announced as next year’s president and vice president after IRHA’s meeting Thursday. The other slate – Heather Minish, junior in industrial engineering, and Amber Hoermann, junior in agricultural education – lost by 55 votes.

“It feels great to win the election again,” Twombley said. “I was kind of worried at the end when the run-off election was announced. Heather and Amber were serious competition and as close as the election was, I’m just glad the voters chose me again.”

Raim was not present at the time of the announcement.

Minish said she is not sure if she will run for IRHA president in next year’s election.

“I will more than likely run [for a position in IRHA] next year, but I don’t know what,” she said.

Twombley and Raim received 364 votes, while Minish and Hoermann received 309. There were 20 abstentions.

Twombley said he is eager to begin his term as president.

“I already want to start working on the campaign goals, but first we have to get an executive team set up so we can work together,” he said.

Dave Breutzmann, TRA at-large, said the election results were what he expected for the most part.

“I was surprised that we had a run-off, but I expected the vote to be close,” he said.

IRHA also passed the Newspaper Readership Program. The program, which provides four newspapers to residence halls, passed 17-0.
