LETTER:Middle East issue has two sides; hear both
April 14, 2002
I must admit my confusion with your coverage of last Thursday’s supposed “Protest for Palestine and Peace.” Specifically, how does one incorporate chants of “no justice, no peace” into a call to end violence? Further, I wonder where the calls for peace were when blood was shed by Palestinian hands, for example, during the Passover massacre, the slaughter of children at a Tel Aviv disco, or the bombing of a busy Jerusalem pizzeria in August? Where was the moment of silence for these victims?
This issue has two sides, and I hope that we will hear them both in the future. Futhermore, I hope that we will work for peace for all people, not only those with whom we most closely identify.
