Astronaut to speak about experiences
ISU graduate and astronaut Clayton Anderson will speak about his experiences in the space program Thursday.
Anderson received a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from Iowa State in 1983 and is the only ISU graduate involved in NASA’s astronaut program.
The College of Engineering is sponsoring a reception for Anderson 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in Howe Hall, where he will give a short and informal speech about his experiences after graduating from Iowa State. The reception is open to the public.
Before the reception, Anderson will participate in two sessions over the Iowa Communications Network with about 25 schools, where he will talk about how astronauts choose and view space food.
At 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Maytag Auditorium at Iowa Public Television in Johnson, Anderson will deliver a one-hour speech directed toward junior high students titled “So You Want to Be an Astronaut.”
This presentation is also open to the public.
