LETTER:Oscars not accurate measure of racism
April 2, 2002
What specific “antics” at this year’s Oscars was Ayrel Clark’s column referring to in particular? Was she inferring that there is a conspiracy of reverse discrimination in the Oscar awards?
The Oscars are hardly an accurate measure of racial integration and ultimate “equality.” Today’s evolved racists mask their bigotry in irrational complaints of reverse racism and “unfairly” applied affirmative-action provisions in an idealistic appeal for a return to a colorblind psuedo-meritocracy that has never existed. Can you, Ayrel Clark, understand that last sentence? If not, work on it.
