Used bike sale will be Saturday

The Friends of Central Iowa Biking will hold its annual sale of used and reconditioned bicycles from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot on the corner of Grand Avenue and 24th Street.

Club officials expect to have more than 100 bikes at the sale, including racing, touring, street and mountain bikes sized to fit teens, adults and children.

Profits from the sale will go to Story County Recreation Trails for the improvement of local bike trails.

`Stars and Stripes’ dance Thursday

The Ames Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class will have a “Stars and Stripes” Spring Dance to benefit Heartland Senior Services from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Moose Lodge, 644 W. 190th St.

KASI radio personality Mel Crippen will host the event, which will feature music from the big band-era.

Tickets are available from Doreen Spencer or K.D. Burkett at Heartland Senior Services, 205 S. Walnut Ave. Ticket prices are $8 in advance or $10 at the door. Group prices are also available.
