Pearlman dropped from allegations

Lou Pearlman’s name has been cleared after he was accused of breaking child labor laws in Florida. Pearlman was central in beginning popular groups such as the Backstreet Boys and `N Sync.

There were no findings that Pearlman’s company, Trans Continental Entertainment, violated child labor laws.

The Florida Department of Labor investigation began last year after Merrily Goodell, the mother of two members of Take 5, claimed Trans Continental ignored various child labor laws, including making minors work more than six consecutive days, making minors work before 7 a.m. and later than 11:30 p.m., failing to notify parents of their children’s activities and failing to obtain a permit allowing minors to work in the entertainment industry.

Take 5 was a Pearlman project that never caught on with music consumers.

`Osbournes’ a big success for MTV

MTV’s newest reality program, “The Osbournes,” has landed the highest-rated series debut in MTV history.

“The Osbournes” is a show that follows legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his family – wife Sharon, and two teen-age children – around their home for six months, presented in ten episodes. The weekly program premiered March 4 and has enjoyed increased viewership ratings each week.

Based on the success of the show so far, Brian Graden, president of MTV Entertainment, said there’s a strong possibility that MTV would consider filming more episodes of “The Osbournes,” but that the network wanted to give the family “a little space so they’re comfortable with being on TV.”
