Alumni abroad give about $64,000
International alumni, including U.S. citizens living abroad, contributed $63,854 to the Iowa State University Foundation last year.
Barbara Boose, the Foundation’s communication director, said the amount is relatively small, but important when compared to the total revenue in contributions of $43 million last year.
Boose said in the last five fiscal years contributions from abroad have declined 72 percent, but “when there are declines, one gift can make a huge amount of difference,” she said.
Boose said a two-year commitment provided $200,000 to the Foundation for scholarship funds, and after that gift ended there appeared to be a large decline.
The ISU Foundation launched a direct mail campaign to alumni living abroad in the last fiscal year, Boose said.
