Scantlin arrested for investigation of domestic violence

Puddle of Mudd lead singer Wes Scantlin, along with his fiancee, Michelle Rubin, was arrested Sunday for investigation of domestic violence. They were held in a Fillmore, Calif. jail until they both posted the $20,000 bail.

Several passersby called police on cell phones to report witnessing Scantlin forcing Rubin into a Jeep on the side of a highway at about 8:30 a.m. According to one witness, the struggle continued inside the vehicle once the two were inside. A third person was driving the Jeep. Authorities then stopped the Jeep and arrested the two.

Hard rock outfit Puddle of Mudd was one of the first bands to sign to Fred Durst’s Flawless label. “Come Clean” was released in 2001 on the label, and has since achieved platinum status, according to the Recording Industry Association of America.

“Blurry,” a single from “Come Clean” has claimed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks for the eighth week in row.

The band was planning on embarking on a tour soon. It is unclear whether Scantlin’s arrest will delay tour plans.
