Democrats to have county convention
Democrats from around Story County will gather Saturday morning at Ames Middle School, 321 State St., for the 2002 Story County Democratic Convention.
Participants will discuss a party platform and elect delegates to the state convention in April.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the event begins at noon. The convention is open to the public.
Volunteers needed for collecting tires
Story County officials are searching for volunteers for Waste Tire Collection Day.
Volunteers will work April 20 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. unloading and recording the number of tires collected at five sites around Story County.
The event is sponsored by a grant from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Treasurer Jamison attends conference
The Story County Treasurer was one of more than 2,000 officials who participated in a national conference in Washington, D.C., during the first week in March.
David Jamison participated in the National Association of Counties 2002 Legislative Conference.
During his visit, Jamison attended workshops and met with Sen. Chuck Grassley and Rep. Tom Latham to discuss issues affecting Story County.
