Joe Price concert rescheduled
Because of weather concerns, the Joe Price concert at the Maintenance Shop was rescheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday, March 8. Ticket prices will remain the same: $5 for ISU students, $7 for non-students.
Desaparecidos cancel tour dates
Indie band Desaparecidos has cancelled the remaining dates of its tour in support of its album “Read Music/ Speak Spanish.”
The band, fronted by Bright Eyes leader Conor Oberst, claims that van troubles are the reason for the cancellations, but rumor has it that bassist/ guitarist Landon Hedges quit midway through the tour.
“Read Music/ Speak Spanish” was released last month on Saddle Creek.
In related news, Saddle Creek plans to release a Bright Eyes EP later this spring.
Rapper indicted on murder charges
Rapper Corey Miller, a.k.a. C-Murder, was indicted Monday on second-degree murder charges.
Miller was arrested Jan. 19 for allegedly shooting and killing 16-year-old Steve Thomas.
At the time, Miller was already out on bail for a separate attempted murder charge.
Miller is the younger brother of hip-hop artist Master P.
Keyes to headline music festival
Multiple Grammy Award winner Alicia Keyes is set to headline the 2002 Essence Music Festival.
Other performers include Luther Vandross, Gerald Levert, India.Arie, the Isley Brothers, Faith Evans, Al Green and Angie Stone.
Comedians Steve Harvey and Cedric the Entertainer are also scheduled to take the stage.
In addition to these main stage acts, there will also be four “superlounge” stages set up.
These stages will feature a wide variety of hip-hop, blues, funk and world music.
Last year almost 200,000 people attended the Essence Music Festival.
The three-day festival begins July 4 at the Louisiana Superdome.
