Library will close Sunday for Easter
The Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave., will be closed Sunday for Easter. It will reopen Monday at 9 a.m. and have normal hours the rest of the week.
Final Wake-up session April 6
The final Legislative Wake-up for the 2002 session will be April 6 at 8:30 a.m. in the Ames City Council Chambers, 515 Clark Ave.
All of the Ames and Story County legislators have been invited to attend the session to discuss bills being debated in the State Legislature.
Reaction panelists are Dianne Bystrom, professor of political science and director of the Catt Center for Women and Politics, and Kathie Obradovich, statehouse reporter for Lee Enterprises.
Pat Miller, Lectures Program director, will moderate.
Arboretum to host workshop on trees
The Iowa Arboretum is hosting a pruning and grafting workshop for people who have trouble with their trees.
Brian Sparks, Arboretum woody plants manager, will demonstrate proper pruning techniques and answer questions about the process.
The pruning session will begin at 10:30 a.m. Apr. 6.
A grafting session, led by Paul Domoto, commercial fruit specialist with ISU Extension, will follow. Participants will take home two dwarf apple trees and two walnut trees.
Cost to participate in the workshop is $20 for Arboretum members and $25 for nonmembers. Preregistration for the workshop is required by calling 795-3216.
