LETTER:Budget cuts should affect Daily as well
March 8, 2002
I find it very upsetting that GSB would even consider increasing funding for the Daily next year. Iowa State gets budget cuts, yet the Daily gets special treatment for more money? Why not give them more money, why not raise our tuition more to put a paper on campus?
We are paying more money for a bias paper that doesn’t offer the whole truth. Obviously GSB has forgotten that the university is undergoing budget cuts and decided to give the Daily more than enough money. The GSB is corrupt and hypocritical.
They vote for Andrea Hauser to reconsider the firings, yet they give the Daily a generous amount of money. Hauser and the editorial board bite their thumbs at GSB, saying they basically cannot touch the Daily, yet, GSB rewards them with a generous amount of money. The very idea of raising funding for the Daily is wrong in every sense. If Iowa State gets budget cuts, there should be no exception made, even for a daily newspaper.
