LETTER:Daily advertisement raises questions
March 1, 2002
The insert in Wednesday’s Daily (“Life is full of surprises”) was clearly a part of a well-financed pro-life propaganda campaign, but the Daily gave absolutely no indication of who sponsored the leaflet.
After a bit of research and reading of very fine print, it turns out that Human Life Alliance of Minnesota, Inc. was behind this “advertising supplement.” It’s very likely that a group here requested or contributed to this program. None of this pertinent information is readily available.
By law, a paid advertisement in a newspaper must include the name of the sponsoring party. The Daily has recently made a showy presentation of its commitment to “professionalism.” However, the treatment of this leaflet certainly throws this into question.
