LETTER:Negative Christian stereotypes sad
March 7, 2002
After reading Michelle Kann’s column, “Get ready for Rachel Scott Barbie,” I felt quite sad- sad that the worst ideas about people are usually the ones that are expressed the loudest. But most of all, sad that Kann has such a negative stereotype of Christians. Yes, some of us are hypocrites; I have experienced this myself, but most of us are not going out of our way to make your life miserable. Judging by your statements, Kann, you don’t believe anyone could possibly be devoted enough to actually live the ideals of Christianity.
Now, I’m not saying I “have arrived,” but I would like to think that I try to show my devotion to Christ not by a journal to be found and sold, after my death, but by my actions and words in my day-to-day existence. If this is simply too much for you to swallow, I challenge you to visit Stonebrook Church Sunday. You will see Christians loving and accepting each other and you, and not just trying to get your credit card number.
