Tennis splits two weekend matches
The ISU women’s tennis team went 1-1 on the weekend falling to Minnesota, 1-6, and defeating St. Louis, 6-1.
In Friday’s action verse Minnesota, ISU senior Edna Vazquez collected Iowa State’s only win with a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 victory over Jennifer Howard at No. 2 singles.
Against St. Louis, Sabrina Ever, Noortje Cornelissen, Edna Vazquez, Courtney Leese and Sharla Whitaker all claimed victories for the Cyclones. The teams of Cornelissen and Ever and Leese and Vazquez brought home wins in doubles action.

Swimming team wins in Nebraska
The ISU women’s swimming and diving team had two successful showings over the weekend, posting a 150-83 win over Nebraska on Friday and placing first over Nebraska-Omaha and Northern Colorado on Saturday.
Iowa State scored 154 points to Nebraska-Omaha’s 92 points and Northern Colorado’s 49 in Saturday’s action. Linda Wagner swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions.
The win over Nebraska on Friday improved Iowa State’s record to 4-2 in duals.
The Cyclones return home when they take on Kansas Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Beyer Hall Pool.

Track teams earn six firsts at UNI
The ISU men’s and women’s track teams had six first-place finishes on their way to a solid performance at the UNI Invitational Friday.
Junior Sheba Clarke led Iowa State collecting wins in the 60- and 200-meter dashes while teammate Lenka Kalabova also had success on the track finishing first in the 400-meter dash. Freshman Jummy Alowonle was the other first place finisher for the Cyclones winning the triple jump.
Sophomore Daniel Kaczmarczyk and junior Ryan Wilson led the way for the men’s team. Kaczmarczyk placed first in the long jump, and Wilson won the pole vault.
No team scores were kept.
