Concert benefits cancer patients
Hootie & The Blowfish, Edwin McCain and Sister Hazel will perform acoustic sets and discuss the meaning of their lyrics at Atlanta’s Lyrics for Life concert to benefit children with cancer. All proceeds from the event will go to Rock Against Cancer, Stop! Children’s Cancer, and Atlanta’s Camp Sunshine.
Lyrics for Life was founded by Sister Hazel leader Ken Block, whose brother died of cancer. Block’s parents are cancer survivors.
In a statement, Block said “I wanted to do something that would make a lasting commitment between the music industry and the fight against cancer. Through Lyrics for Life, we’ve called on fellow musicians, athletes, and celebrities to come together for something cool and different.”
Jackson’s manager thwarts break-in
Janet Jackson’s manager caught a man trying to break into the pop queen’s dressing room while she was on stage in New York. The man had allegedly already gathered two stuffed animals, some of Jackson’s personal correspondence and an FDNY baseball cap.
The suspect was apparently a ticket holder who somehow made his way backstage unnoticed, according to police. He was charged with burglary.
