Speech to discuss war on terrorism, rights

A human rights advocate will speak Monday night on human rights and the war on terrorism.

Holly Burkhalter, Ames native and advocacy director of Physicians for Human Rights, will speak at 8 tonight in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union.

Burkhalter’s speech is part of the Institute on World Affairs lecture series “What is Terrorism?”.

Diversity conference applications available

Applications to attend the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity are available.

The conference, which promotes ethnic diversity and understanding, offers the opportunity to gain leadership skills and serve as ambassadors to the Iowa State Conference on Race and Ethnicity.

Orientation program searches for leaders

Destination Iowa State is seeking students interested in leading orientation programs for incoming students next fall. The program, held Aug. 22-25, welcomes new students to Iowa State.

Applicants must attend three mandatory training sessions or complete WebCT training and return to Ames Aug. 21.
