TV movie to be made about Enron
Planning to capitalize on recent events in the big business scandal, Artisan Television and the cable network FX will film a made-for-television movie about Enron that could be released as early as late 2002.
The story will focus on the behind-the-scenes partnerships and questionable companies – many, such as Chewco Investments LP and Obi-1 Holdings LLC, named after Star Wars characters – that masked nearly one billion dollars in debt.
Video looks inside WTC towers
A two-hour CBS special featuring 45 minutes of never-before-seen footage from inside the World Trade Center towers as they collapsed will air March 10.
The two-hour prime-time special will run at 8 p.m. CST, almost six months after the attacks.
Jules and Gedeon Naudet, the French brothers who shot the film, captured the footage of Ground Zero when they were in New York filming a documentary about the New York Fire Department.
Increased security featured at Oscars
Applications and background checks are standard procedure at the Academy Awards this year, something that has never before occured.
Fans who wish to attend the event must provide name, address, phone, Social Security and driver’s license numbers, as well as a signature.
Leslie Unger, spokesperson for the academy, said the new standards are the result of the venue for this year’s awards, the Hollywood & Highland complex, rather than the events of Sept. 11.
