LETTER:Partridge story irresponsible journalism

Benjamin C. Bruns

As a member of the Iowa State football team from 1996 to 2000, I had a chance to spend a significant amount of time with Charlie Partridge. When Charlie first came to Iowa State, it was as a graduate assistant who worked ungodly hours for ridiculously low pay. In his time at Iowa State, his hard work, diligence and character were evident to everyone around him and resulted in his promotion within the staff.

It’s insulting to Charlie, anyone who knows him (including me), the media relations staff and every single member of the ISU football family that the Iowa State Daily felt it necessary to suggest that a simple media guide error is something scandalous. Furthermore, I find it ironic that a publication so full of constant factual errors would write a front page article criticizing others for making factual errors or proofreading oversights in its publications.

It is irresponsible for journalists, and whomever else (perhaps a journalism professor) to publish such nonsense as yesterday’s front page story.

I wish the Iowa State Daily had as much integrity as Coach P.
