Wildlife habitat workshop March 2

Story County Conservation will have a workshop focusing on habitat restoration and preservation for local landowners on March 2.

The workshop targets individuals who want to recognize and preserve wildlife habitat. Wildlife biologists, naturalists and natural resource managers will answer questions.

Interested participants must preregister for the workshop by Feb. 25. At least 20 people must preregister in order for the event to go as scheduled.

Children’s museum comes to library

Children are invited to the Children’s Museum of Central Iowa, which will come to the Ames Public Library Sunday.

The museum, which will fill the Farwell T. Brown Auditorium on the first floor of the library, 515 Douglas Ave., features interactive displays on Iowa history. The exhibit will be from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Iowa Arboretum sponsors hike

The Iowa Arboretum will host a full moon hike and bonfire Feb. 27 in rural Boone County.

The hike, which costs $5 for participation, will begin at 7 p.m. and last about an hour. Hot chocolate and roasted marshmallows will be served. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather.
