Opera extra fired for falling off stage
The Metropolitan Opera fired Simon Deonarian, a cast member who fell off stage during the debut performance of “War and Peace” last week. Deonarian was payed $30 per hour for the non-singing extra part.
Representatives of the Metropolitan claim Deonarian fell off stage, and then overacted by jumping into the orchestra pit.
The performance had to stop for a few moments to make sure Deonarian was uninjured.
Deonarian insists he fell – not jumped – into the pit, and that the entire incident was an accident. He wasn’t hurt in the incident.
