LETTER:Both sides need to let the debate die

There is line of distinction between fiction and reality, albeit thin, still exists. Most people have the capacity to distinguish this line with a high degree of differentiation. “Animal House” is a classic comedy made in the spirit of the 70s’ and 80s’ “stupid humor” movement. It is part of a long line of exaggerated movie plots. “The Jerk,” “National Lampoon’s Family Vacation,” “Porky’s,” “Blues Brothers,” “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and the list goes on.

I’ve been to enough frat parties, let alone house parties, to know that sometimes they can be “too much fun.” I also know that most of the greek system is good and you do a lot of charitable work.

However, I can’t help but feel that a few people, greeks and non greeks, for that matter, keep the stereotype alive by constantly reminding the rest of us that you think that we feel the greek system is just like “Animal House.” News flash – we don’t. Most of the time we’re not even thinking about the greek system. So learn to make fun of yourself. You’re in college. Try to have a little fun.
