Robb sentenced to probation
January 14, 2002
An ISU sophomore who said she lied about being kidnapped and raped by four men was sentenced to 18 months of probation, psychiatric evaluation and 100 hours of community service on Jan. 7.
Katie Robb, sophomore in journalism and mass communication, was sentenced by Story County District Associate Court Judge Thomas Hronek.
Story County Attorney Stephen Holmes would not comment on Robb’s case.
Robb had faced up to a year in jail and $1,500 in fines.
She still faces punishment from a university judicatory committee.
Robb is listed as a student in the Drake University directory, but Dean of Students Peter Englin said Robb is “currently registered at Iowa State” and her case is “not yet resolved.”
Englin said he does not know when the committee will issue a final decision on Robb’s case.
“We want it to work out in the best interests of the student and the university,” he said.
