After the weather prevented them from playing on Friday, the Cyclones played two games on Saturday. Iowa State lost to the Stanford Cardinal 2-1 in extra innings but defeated Colorado State, 6-5.

The Cyclones played Stanford at 1 p.m. Weather played a huge factor in the game, as there were four rain delays throughout the game.

Teaghan Cowles hit a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning to give Stanford a 1-0 lead.

In the top of the fifth inning, senior right-fielder Kirsten Caudle hit an RBI single to tie the game for the Cyclones. Senior center fielder Taylor Nearad scored.

At the end of the seventh inning, neither team was able to generate another run, and the game went to extra innings.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Emily Klingaman put the ball in play, and Alyssa Horeczko scored for Stanford, and Stanford came out on top against the Cyclones, 2-1.

The Cyclones were scheduled to play the Rams at 5:30 p.m., but because of rain delays, the game didn’t start until 8:10 p.m.

Kirsten Caudle hit an RBI single where Nearad scored, and the Cyclones scored another run off an error to give Iowa State a 2-0 lead.

The Rams scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 3-2 lead.

Iowa State tied the game in the top of the fifth inning when the Cyclones had the bases loaded, and senior catcher Sally Woolpert reached first base on a walk. Junior shortstop Sami Williams scored.

Corina Gamboa, who hit an RBI single in the third inning, hit a single in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Rams a 5-3 lead.

In the top of the sixth inning, the Cyclones put three runs on the board as senior third basemen Logan Schaben, freshmen infielder Kasey Simpson and sophomore outfielder Hannah Carter scored to give the Cyclones a 6-5 victory over the Rams. A Simpson single to center field, a sacrifice fly by Williams to center field and triple to right field by Nearad drove in the runs.

The Cyclones will be back in action on Sunday against the Portland State Vikings at noon on Sunday.
