Former student pleads guilty

A former ISU student accused of being in possession of more than 500 hits of LSD has pleaded guilty a number of drug offenses.

Joshua C. Peters, 22, of Shoreview, Minn., was arrested in March after members of the Central Iowa Drug Task Force said they found 540 hits of LSD and several marijuana plants in Peters’ apartment, located at 410 Welch Ave. #4.

Peters, a former mechanical engineering student, pleaded guilty Monday to being in possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of marijuana and failure to affix an Iowa drug tax stamp, according to court documents.

Peters, who no longer is enrolled at Iowa State, was thought to be “a major distributor” of LSD in Ames by the Central Iowa Drug Task Force.

He is scheduled for sentencing at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7.
