LETTER:Griffin needs to find himself a real sport
November 15, 2001
I would like to make several comments in response to Wesley Griffin’s column, “Hunting a fun, necessary pastime.” Mr. Griffin, so what if you eat the poor little “pesky” squirrels that you kill? Did the fact that Jeffrey Dahmer ate his victims justify his actions?
Also, Griffin labels hunting as a sport. However, most people, including myself, think of a sport as a game in which all parties involved are willing participants. No one would argue with the fact that the hunted deer are unwilling, so I don’t agree that hunting can be accurately categorized as a sport.
