Design a KURE logo, win music

Christmas is coming and time is running out to win 88.5 pounds of music. How can you do this? 88.5 FM KURE needs a new logo, and the station needs you to design it.

First, draw an illustration of how you imagine our new logo to be. Put your name, e-mail address and telephone number somewhere on the sheet of paper.

Bring it to the station during regular office hours, or mail it to: KURE, 1199 Friley Hall, Ames, IA 50012.

STP’s Weiland arrested for battery

Scott Weiland, lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots, was arrested Nov. 20 in Las Vegas for allegedly grabbing and pushing his wife, Mary.

According to her police statement, the two were bickering about a prescription medication. She said she was sitting in a doorway, trying to prevent him from leaving the room when he grabbed her. She sustained bruises on her biceps.

The STP vocalist spent 12 hours in jail, then was released on $3000 bail. He performed a concert later that night.

Weiland is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 19 in Last Vegas Township.
