Entertainment industry gives aid
Rapper Jay-Z announced that he will donate $45,000 to the Red Cross, as well as $1 from every ticket sold for his “Blueprint Lounge Tour.”
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is donating $1 million to New York City relief efforts. The National Association of Theater Owners raised over $5 million in disaster assistance funding through Victims’ Benefit Day.
Emmys to be held in NYC and L.A.
Because many Emmy nominees and potential attendees don’t want to fly to Los Angeles for the show, planners decided to have the event in New York City and Los Angeles. A New York City NBC studio will be turned into a makeshift Emmy venue, and the show will feature footage from both places.
Farm Aid begins new relief fund
The Farm Aid 2001 concert has started a new relief fund for New York City farmers markets affected by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Money donated to the Fund for World Trade Center Green Market Farmers will go directly to five farmers markets located in Manhattan.
The concert, hosted by country sensation Martina McBride, will air from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on CMT. Willy Nelson, Dave Matthews and Neil Young will all perform sets.
