Equipment on display at ag Field Day
October 25, 2001
Farmers will get a chance to check out some of the latest farm equipment at the Ride and Drive Field Day Saturday.
This is the second year that the ISU Agricultural Systems Technology Club has sponsored this free event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a private farm northwest of Nevada.
Mark Dolan, Ride and Drive Field Day committee member, said about 300 people attended last year
Dolan said he is hoping for at least that many people in attendance this year, if not more.
A total of six tractors, including two John Deere, two New Holland, one AGCO, and one Case International will be on display on that farm.
The event is funded by the club and four farm machinery dealers.
“We ask $150 from each dealer,” said Greg Deim, another AST member on the committee. “This covers the cost of advertising and food.”
Dolan, junior in agricultural systems technology, said this is the biggest event the club sponsors each year.
The Field Day location is three miles east of I-35 exit 116, at the intersection with R77.
“This is a good service to farmers and dealers,” said Deim, junior in agricultural systems technology.
“Dealers get a chance to advertise their equipment and farmers get a chance to inspect the equipment up close.”
