Musicians release hit packages
Record label executives are set to release a 12-CD box set of each album the Grateful Dead released on Warner Bros. The set, “The Golden Road (1965-1973),” is expected to drop on Oct. 16.
The new release will also include various live cuts and studio outtakes.
The now-dissolved Smashing Pumpkins will release “Untitled,” its final recorded song, along with an 18-track greatest hits disc, a limited-edition B-sides disc and a DVD on Nov. 30.
The DVD will feature some of the band’s music videos and rare behind-the-stage footage.
Madonna, too, has a greatest hits package in the works. “GHV2” will hit stores Nov. 13. The album span Madonna’s 1990s-era smash tunes from “Erotica” to “Ray of Light.” It is a follow-up to “Immaculate Collection.”
Arnold files suit against game maker
Arnold Schwarzenegger has sued International Game Technology, a slot machine manufacturer based in Reno, Nev., for $20 million, saying the company used his likeness on its game, “Terminator,” without his permission.
The 54-year old actor filed a lawsuit alleging the slot machine will harm his image.
Schwarzenegger keeps a firm hold on how his image is used. He has not done any advertisements or product endorsements in the United States.
Schwarzenegger says he does not want to be associated with gambling in any way.
