In support of Ames ordinance I
October 11, 2001
I write in support of the City of Ames in its fight to maintain the smoking ordinance. I suffer from emphysema. One of the reasons for that was the fact that I smoked for quite a few years. After I quit smoking I inhaled second-hand smoke for a period of 20 years, which exacerbated my lung problem.
I’ve worked in Ames for many years. During the course of my current employment I take a break in between meetings at Great Plains Sauce and Pizza, which at the present moment is 100 percent smoke-free.
Prior to them being smoke-free, I couldn’t attend breaks because of the second-hand smoke on my lung problem.
