Carver Co-Lab groundbreaking Saturday

The groundbreaking for the Roy J. Carver Co-Laboratory, the building for Iowa State’s Plant Sciences Institute, will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, north of the Communications Building.

The new $12.75 million facility is named for the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust of Muscatine, which gave $3 million.

When completed in spring 2003, this three-story, 45,000-square-foot building will include laboratory suites, seed analysis facilities and plant growth chambers associated with the Center for Plant Genomics, a computer laboratory, a seminar room, and administrative offices for the Plant Sciences Institute.

New Student Programs applications due

Today is the last day the Office of Admissions and New Student Programs will accept applications for Cyclone Aides, Student Admissions Representatives (STARS) and Destination Iowa State team leaders.

Applications, which are used to select students for any of the three positions, can be picked up in 100 Alumni Hall or at www.admissions.iastate.edu/studentleaders.html.

Applicants must be full-time ISU students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.2. All applications are due at 5 p.m.
