Sean Lennon signs Capitol contract
Sean Lennon, son of Yoko Ono and the late John Lennon, has left Grand Royal and signed a recording contract with Capitol Records. Capitol is his mother’s label, and it also contains some of John Lennon’s early work.
Lennon is over halfway done with his new album, and says it is alternative pop that “sounds like Weezer meets Brian Wilson.”
Lennon has been busy in the time since his last record. He is featured on his mother’s latest album and has done guest work with Handsome Boy Modeling School, Deltron 3030 and Action Figure Party. He has also toured with the trip-pop Cibo Matto.
Plans are in the works for Lennon to sing The Beatles tune “Across the Universe” with Moby and Rufus Wainwright for a movie soundtrack.
Box office slumps continue this week
Box office sales are dropping for the second straight week. The highest-grossing film this weekend was the dark “From Hell,” which pulled in only $11.3 million.
