Concerts raise money for victims
Three star-studded New York City relief concerts took place this weekend. Classic rockers Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, U2, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel, Elton John and the Who all performed at the “Concert for New York.”
“United We Stand: What More Can I Give?” had more of a pop flavor, as Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync and Michael Jackson headlined. Actor John Stamos hosted the event, which will be aired Nov. 1 on ABC. Entertainment conglomerate Clear Channel promoted the concert.
Country artists also raised money for charity. George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Vince Gill and Lee Ann Womack played in Nashville’s “Country Freedom Concert.”
Jagger, Kravitz release single
“God Gave Me Everything,” a new single from Rolling Stone Mick Jagger and pop-rocker Lenny Kravitz is set to hit radio airwaves Tuesday. The song is a collaboration between the two and will be featured as the first single from Jagger’s upcoming album “Goddess in the Doorway,” which is due out Nov. 20 and contains guest work by Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, U2’s Bone, the Who’s Pete Townshend, Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas and Wyclef Jean.
“God Gave Me Everything” is available for download at liquid.com for $3.49.
