How would you like a golden cow?
October 3, 2001
This just in – Osama Bin Laden is not the cause of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11. According to Mark Snyder, the cause is the wrath of God. This is what I understood from Mr. Snyder’s Bible-blinded article in Wednesday’s Daily. I fail to see how God has left the United States when this country has been so extremely fortunate for the past century; that is 100 years, not one day. Don’t get me wrong, the terrorist attacks were a horrific act of violence, but don’t blame U.S. religious policies as the cause.
This world is fraught with people that hate one another and would kill one another for their differing view points. The United States is built on diversity and differing view points, yet we can live next to one another because of our government’s unbiased laws and policies. The policies I speak of include separation of church and state.
I don’t know how sheltered of a life Mr. Snyder has had, but most schools have more than one religion attending that school. I believe in the Ten Commandments and God, but I understand that I am not the only person living in this country and I can not force my views on other people in public places.
Now I know many people are boiling with anger, asking how we can keep God out of our public places. If you are one of those people, then imagine you are the minority and the majority is ranting and raving for a golden cow in every school in America. Wouldn’t you feel your rights were being violated?
America, I urge you to keep your eye on the enemy – the terrorists. At the same time, ignore the religious zealots overseas and in our borders that are trying to destroy our liberty and justice for all.
