Sports Day on campus
October 10, 2001
Iowa State students, faculty and staff will be joining Iowa State’s 48 sports clubs on Central Campus, in front of Curtis Hall, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday to “get out and play the games you played when you were a kid,” said, Andrew Murdoch, Sports Club Council vice president.
The games will include freeze tag, duck-duck-goose and red rover.
“It’s fun and games. The purpose is to get away from school and work for a day and just have fun,” Chris Massie, SCC secretary said.
The fun and games will be backed by flyers and booths that give out information about all of the sports clubs at Iowa State.
Anastasia Sprowl, SCC president, said the real reason behind “Sports Day” is to help people to remember their childhood games and the fun side of life.
“Playing has always been a part of our lives and we shouldn’t forget it no matter what level it’s on . it’s all about taking that little bit of time to play,” Sprowl said.
Info booths will be set up around the area, said Kim Widmayer, SCC Treasurer.
In addition to the fun and games, Sports Day is designed to add diversity to all of the sports clubs, Sprowl said.
