Nominees named for music awards

Nominees are in for the MTV Europe Music Awards, and Gorillaz, Limp Bizkit, U2 and Craig David head up the award hopefuls.

Gorillaz leads the pack with six nominations for Best Group, Best Dance Act, Best U.K. Act, Best Web Site, Best New Act and Best Song.

Limp Bizkit and U2 raked in four nominations, respectively, and Destiny’s Child, Eminem and Dido landed with three each.

The awards show is scheduled for Nov. 8 in Frankfurt, Germany. Performers include Janet Jackson, Dido and Destiny’s Child.

Wilco makes songs available online

Although Wilco’s latest album, “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” isn’t scheduled to hit stores until next year, fans can hear all 11 of the tracks on Wilco’s Web site.

The alt-country band was recently dropped by its label, Reprise Records. The band was reportedly pleased with the separation.

Atari Teenage Riot member dead

Atari Teenage Riot co-founder Karl Bohm, better known as Carl Crack, was found dead yesterday. He was 30 years old.

Alcohol and pills were found in his stomach.

Since its last tour ended in March 2000, ATR had been on hiatus until 2003, while its members worked on solo projects.

The experimental hardcore/techno group was known for its political radicalism.
