Report points to cause of Aaliyah’s plane crash

The plane that carried pop star Aaliyah and eight others to their deaths late last month was carrying more weight than it could handle, according to a report by the Bahamian Department of Civil Aviation.

“The total weight of the luggage, fuel on board at the time of the accident, plus the weight of the passengers showed that the total gross weight of the airplane was substantially exceeded,” according to the report that was issued Saturday by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The report confirmed earlier explanations by aviation officials.

Kelloggs recently announced it was starting a new line of breakfast cereals featuring characters from the popular TV show “The Simpsons.”

The new cereals are Homer’s Cinnamon Donut Cereal and Bart Simpson Peanut Butter Chocolate Crunch and will be available in stores later this month.

Family Values will come together for tour this fall

The hard-rocking Family Values tour, headlined by Korn and Limp Bizkit in past years, returns to North America starting Oct. 11.

Stone Temple Pilots, Staind and Linkin Park will join newly named acts Static-X and Deadsy on the tour which will be stopping in St. Paul, Minn., Oct. 13, at the Xcel Energy Center.
